The Wu Kuei –the Family of Demons- are the immortals of Yomi, renegade Wu T’ian that sold their souls to hell for safety in the dawning Sixth Age. During their creation they drink an alchemical liquid that kills them immediately and draws their soul to Yomi Wan, where they are educated and instructed by their new masters. Afterwards, they are allowed to inhabit their bodies again. When a Wu Kuei is slain, he is transported back to Yomi, directly into the loving arms of his master, and can only leave if he gains enough Chi and his master is certain that his minion learned his lesson (after some very pointed instruction).
