Books
Edit
Hey, I just wanted to know, why you've erased the links of the books from Hunter the Reckoning I thought it would be nice if people could see where they could find material about the characters
lg Ally
- I didn't erase them, I renamed them. The links you gave were incorrect book titles. To view a list of Hunter books, see Hunter: The Reckoning books. --Ian talk 23:25, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- I was on the book page but I didn't see the infernal book there before I made the link, maybe they weren't linked on the book page -> Category:Hunter: The Reckoning books gosh I think I made you do more work then I was helping, sorry ^^;
- The category page will only show article pages which currently exist. The link I gave shows all the books released for Hunter, regardless of whether or not they have an article yet, and will show you the proper title to use for a book.
- Don't worry too much; no one expects you to be perfect when you first start editing. Just keep an eye on what sort of changes people make to your articles, so you have a better idea of what to do, and sooner or later you'll be fine. (: --Ian talk 23:46, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
I'll try my best, I'm kinda impressed that I even did manage to do links.. and now they are all gone *sob* ;) I'm currently reading the infernal book, so I'll try to work on that and on the characters... and I hope I can find out what number the latelistener has... - Ally
Thanks for the Welcome message
Edit
Hi Ian! I saw your welcome message after I made a minor edit. Since I should be working on a paper for university at the moment, I won't be creating an account just now. Maybe later. Congratulations for all the good work you have done so for with this site! Cheers, Jens --145.254.162.48 10:12, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Hai!
Edit
Hey your page is really nice, I discovered it a while ago but never took time to actually browse it for a while. It is surprisingly complete seeing some sections are based around games that are considered dead by their publisher and the hype surrounding the WOD. I personally like the cWOD best and know quite a bit of the games. I was never a hardcore gamer (I played D&D even tough I liked WoD better) but I bought a couple of sourcebooks and have found some info on the net. I will gladly help in the incomplete sections I find that I can expand upon. Thank you for having the vision to create such a useful resource for storytellers and fans of the WoD lore. BTW I would like to know if there is people who still play cWOD online (like a blogg or a group or a mailing list or something)
lets keep in touch, -- Khronos7 05:16, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
- Glad you're enjoying the Wiki so far! I appreciate all the help I can get.
- If you're looking for places to find cWOD gamers, I suggest checking out WW's cWOD forums. If you're looking for an online chat environment for RPing, I recommend this thread.
- Best of luck! --Ian talk 17:33, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Old WW site
Edit
Dear Ian, I found a cached version of the old WW website. I always regretted I never saved anything that was on that site, so I'm really happy I can do now. I'll take what I need, but maybe it could be a good idea to repost some of its contents here on the wiki, especially the signature characters. I'd ask permission to WW myself but I know that sometimes english's intricacies are lost on me, plus I think you already know who to ask such a think, so would you please do that if you thing this is a good idea?
Here are a couple of links: [1] [2] [3]
Let me know, and thank you very much. --Vittek 19:11, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Correspondences
Edit
Hello Ian, I have an idea for an article that I think should be interesting: I want to list all links between various factions of the cWOD, and even their real-world inspirations when there is one. I'll also list references, but only when they talk about the connections between the various factions. The only problem is that I don't know how to call the page, I'd go with 'Correspondences' but then you'd have to disambiguate with the Mage Sphere of Correspondence. Any idea would be appreciated. I'll start to write the article here, so you can see what this is all about. -comes back after writing the article- Whew, I wrote a lot more than what I thought. Ok, I've created a Correspondences_(cWOD) page, so I don't pollute your talk page. Please let me know what you think, so we can rename the page. --Vittek 14:33, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think we need such a page. The information is useful, yes, but I don't see that we need a separate page for it.
- We already have, for example, vampire (cWOD) versus Kindred (VTM). The latter (Kindred) is about vampires as they "are" or as they see themselves; the former (vampire) is about the interpretation of others and the views from outside. Various relations other groups have with vampires (like the origins of the Tremere, the love/hate relationship Wraiths have with the Giovanni, etc) would be appropriate to be placed there.
- Real-world references would belong on the respective articles. Mogen Ha Chav should cover all the details about its relationship with real-world Kabbalah. I don't see a need for it to be placed on a separate page, unless that page happens to be about Kabbalah. --Ian talk 17:53, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Uhm, sorry to hear that. This is the kind of informations I look for when I think about a crossover game. This page was trying to be a reference sheet for connections, so you can look here instead of reading each page of each faction of each game, and obviously the connections should be described thoroughly on each faction's page. I'll try to copy all information in the right pages; I'll copy the content over to my wiki, and I'll let you know when you can delete it. Or maybe you could merge it with the crossover page, but I don't think it fits there either. --Vittek 10:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Greetings, kind sir! Like those who posted before me, I am a native French speaker, interested in your project to create a new wiki. However, I must confess that I'm also a complete newbie to wikia (I created this account when I saw you were looking for help, that is... a few minutes ago): let me know if you want me to translate anything, but I certainly won't dare to take any initiative as long as I'm not familiar with the wikia system. I had a couple of questions regarding what you told me.
- In order to add Greek to the Languages section like in the Gangrel article, do I just have to add it:Gangrel at the end of the article once I've translated it? Moreover, I am not quite sure if "it:" is the correct code, because it seems to me it's for italian.
- I really have no idea what I should begin with. Any particular requests?

- Hi, I'm Garras da Lua (most closely name in english, I think is Claws of the moon, or Moon's Claws ^^). I'm Brazilian and I saw you are looking for a portuguese translation. I already work in two wikis here as a admin (one stoped for a time about Voyage Century, other in all charge, about Dofus), but I think I can always have a time for one more!
- I worked about 5 years in wod translations in Brazil (for Devir Publisher, the owner of the rights here. Have some translations published in portuguese, and meet some of the authors in a few occasions), and have a fairly good knowing in wikia edition. May be a little slow to grow ( just me and one or two friends in beggining) , But I have a well know RPG Site in Brazil, that may help i it. Sorry for the brokle english, I can understand and translate fine enought, but as a good pair of years that I don't write an english, I may be a little ... forgotten.
- You prefer that yhe layout be similar of these wikia or different?
- I was looking, and Already exists one pt-br.whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki . But there's nothing posted there. I will try to make something there ! ^^

Jyhad (CCG)
Edit
Is there a reason you deleted the #redirect link from to Jyhad (CCG) to Vampire:_The_Eternal_Struggle? There's still a link from the Jyhad page to Jyhad (CCG), and since I was looking for the CCG under first "CCG" and then "Jyhad," it would have been nice to have the redirect in place. I had to google it to find the new name. B) In this instance I'll just fix the link on the Jyhad page, but I was wondering the reason for deleting a useful redirect in the first place, so I know the thinking here before I create any similar redirects. Thanks!

Copyright
Edit
Copyright... a subject hashed and rehashed to death...
"In a Galaxy far far far very far away... their was a rapper named "Luke"... One day he decided to call himself "Luke Skywalker"... needless to say, George Lucas didn't like that... as "Luke Skywalker" is a copyrighted name and can't just name yourself "Luke Skywalker" or "Chewbacca"
The point...
Its obvious that even one word can be copyrighted. Now, for public use, so long as the word is referenced or given credit to its proper owner it should be fair to use... right? What about a referenced sentence to its source? What about a paragraph? No... we dont want to re-wright White Wolf's clanbooks... but sometimes there are key points, sentences, concepts even paragraphs that say it best... as long as they are referenced to the source with page numbers... is this not okay? Every definition in this wiki should be referenced.. as they are supposed to be VTM definitions... not www.dictionary.com definitions... and there is no way to reword VTM definitions as the concept itself is copyrighted...
The reason why i bring all this up, is because i put a paragraph straight from a WhiteWolf Clanbook that said it best about Anarchs... my paragraph was referenced... giving its source and page number like you would see it in an encyclopedia. However, the material was contested. so if i cant include exact information, with its sources... then why even have a wiki? why have VTM definitions? why have images? All of my work that was contested had references with page numbers or at least the source to go to, had i not the page number. In this contested case, i had sources and page numbers.
Do i need to reference "Chewbacca" in this letter so that you know it comes from George Lucas? or am i going to get in trouble? hahahaha
- "Chewbacca" copyrighted by George Lucas... www.lucasarts.com
- "In a Galaxy far far away..." copyrighted by George Lucas... www.lucasarts.com
- now what if i have a paragraph? or the intro to Star Wars?
SosaFett 02:02, February 14, 2010 (UTC)
- According to White Wolf's own site, there is a limit of 1000 words per book, so you could do it very frugally. White Wolf fan site guidelines here. Also, they should be linked more. Spriteless 07:51, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

Hi how are you. Im new on the site. I am a big fan of the white wolf company and i was wondering if you need help fleshing out the information on the site. Im an admin over at another site and i recently found this one. I have a ton of vampire masquerade books as well as the changeling breed one. I have noticed the larger portions of information are missing. Also the specific characters are almost stubs. So i guess im asking if i can add to the site or what have you. Also though i know im new if you need another admin i am experienced at it, just throwing that out there. Hope to here from you.Salubri (Talk) 02:37, July 2, 2010 (UTC)

C2.com
Edit
Hey, I'm concerned by something on the site. I noticed that links using the syntax Article were redirecting to some site at http://c2.com. This behavior can be seen at http://whitewolf.wikia.com/index.php?title=Ventrue_%28VTM%29&oldid=45348. Do you know why this is?
Also, user Gtrmp seems to explicitly changing links to point to this site. I'm not sure whether this is malicious or not.
Moogle001 03:09, December 11, 2010 (UTC)
- Redirecting traffic to another site? I'd assume it's malicious. I've banned him from the chat. Feel free to revert any changes he's made. --Ian talk 03:17, December 11, 2010 (UTC)
- Further research has revealed that C2.com is apparently the first Wiki; further info at Wikipedia:WikiWikiWeb. A Google of the issue reveals that this odd redirecting appears to be affecting multiple wikis, even Wikipedia itself; perhaps some change in the main wiki engine itself? I know Article use to go to Wikipedia... Either way, it's something that may need to be cleaned up on articles throughout.
Pages for deletion
Edit
Hi! I've been editing on this site on-and-off for a while now. I think it's great, but the category system isn't well organised. I've been slowly working to fix it, merging some categories, renaming others, but this is leading to a huge backlog of categories in Category:Deletion. As you seem to be the only administrator still active, could you please have a look at the deletion folder and delete its contents, whenever you have some free time? Many thanks. -- Supermorff 21:42, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
Copyright issue
Edit
An unregistered user has requested that the Salubri page be deleted since it uses copyrighted images that the user claims to have created. All of the images on the page look like they are from White Wolf sourcebooks, and are tagged as fair use, but since you uploaded them you probably have a better idea of exactly where they came from. (I would assume further that any copyright would belong to the White Wolf company rather than the creator, but I don't know. He/she may just want credit.) The user's talk page is here. -- Supermorff 18:58, January 15, 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, I see you've just logged on. I really think it would be good if you had a look at this copyright issue, because depending on who the person is they could cause some problems down the road (even if they don't technically have a case). As for the deleton cleanup (section above this one), I realise you may not have time - I'd do it myself but obviously would need admin abilities first. I already know how they work, being an admin on several other wikis, some very large (sonic.wikia.com), some very small (watchmen.wikia.com), and some just getting started (youngjustice.wikia.com), so I'd be willing to help out here too. Just thought I'd offer. But the copyright issue probably will need your attention, I'm afraid. -- Supermorff 11:06, January 29, 2011 (UTC)
- The claims are unfounded. The images are White Wolf's copyrights, and we're well within our rights to use those images here. The specific instances of these images (which have since found their way to Wikipedia and so forth) were created by me in Photoshop.
- The user has been banned for both the removal of information as well as the insertion of false information. -Ian talk 17:25, February 1, 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, good to know that those claims were spurious. This is why it needed your input! Any word on clearing up the deletion folder? -- Supermorff 14:42, February 2, 2011 (UTC)
The reality of Verbena?
Edit
Hi Ian,
I wanted to know if the Council of Nine and the group named Verbena have any truth to it. The reason for this is because a hgiher being came through a reiki treatment recently and I received a vision of their symbol in my mind. I had never seen it before and did not know what it meant Neither the practitioner, nor I, knew what Verbena meant but we could not believe our eyes when we came across your info.
What ever happened in that reiki treatment was real and has affected both of us. I would love to discuss this more with you.
Regards,
Penny
- Penny,
- This Wiki is for the fictional roleplaying game worlds created by White Wolf Publishing. Groups like the Council of Nine are "real" in the sense that I didn't make them up, and there is much published information about them, but they're not true, because they were invented by White Wolf for the game Mage: The Ascension.
- The Verbena are likewise a fictional creation, one of the nine groups of mages which comprise the Council. Their name comes from the herb Verbena, also known as vervain. It's fairly common, and it's more likely that this is what your mind was referring to. --Ian talk 17:33, February 1, 2011 (UTC)
- Penny,
- While this group named Verbena is, as Ian said, fictional, the symbol — or symbols — used by White Wolf Publishing for their identity is also real. It is a combination of triskelion and Dragon's Eye symbols. This variation, horizonally elongated, with wedge-shaped lines, is also used by some real-world occultist, but I don't know if it has any distinct meaning. — Grijalva 21:14, February 1, 2011 (UTC)
WOD Wiki
Edit
Since you're an Admin at WOD Wiki, do you have any means of reaching one of the Bureaucrats or Server Administrators there? The WOD Wiki has no active Admins at the moment, and it's starting to get hit, sometimes several times a day, by spammers. I'd like to fill the role, and I think there's at least one other person who'd be interested, but even assuming we get the okay from the community (there are no objections so far), we need someone who has the ability to actually grant those rights. If you have an e-mail address for someone at WW who might be able to help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! My e-mail is enabled if you want to reply privately. Pages to be deleted. Still.
Edit
I notice none of the pages marked for deletion have been deleted yet, even though some of them are blank, nonsense or spam. Maybe this was because you thought merely by tagging the pages I hadn't been following the documented process for dealing with deletion cases (although there are pages that have been listed since 2009 without any progress from you or any other admin). Therefore I've listed all of the absolutely unarguable cases on White Wolf:Pages for immediate deletion and I've listed all the other pages for deletion on White Wolf:Votes for deletion. I would really appreciate it if you could go through both pages. Kind regards, Supermorff 11:52, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
- I haven't been doing it because I've been occupied with other projects, and have largely left the Wiki to itself. I don't track changes to see what's been tagged for deletion and what hasn't. All it takes is a reminder, preferably one with a touch less assumption of incompetence on my part. --24.141.179.146 00:28, May 22, 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for doing that. I apologise if I came across as rude, although I did remind you in January and in February and nothing happened. Also, I notice you've moved Caestus Pax to the deletion archive, but it hasn't been deleted.
- If you're really not very active any more, it might be worth making another admin or two to take the slack. I haven't spoken to him and don't know if he's interested, but Gtrmp seems to know his way around the wiki. Omeri is new but has a good attitude. They've both been pretty active lately. It's just something to think about. -- Supermorff 08:01, May 22, 2011 (UTC)
Hi. Just leaving you a reminder that the pages listed on White Wolf:Votes for deletion have all been tagged forover 5 days without any objections, so they can now be deleted. Also, I've relisted Caestus Pax for immediate deletion since it somehow got posted to the deletion archive without having been deleted, so that can be deleted too. Many thanks. -- Supermorff 08:00, May 28, 2011 (UTC)
Anon users and article creation
Edit
I've gone through a lot of articles created by anonymous IP-only users over the past few months, and by my reckoning, at least half of them are copied directly from other websites or from White Wolf's own books. Would it be possible to set article creation privileges on the wiki so that anons can't create new articles without registering an account? Most wikis only allow anonymous users to edit articles, not create them, and that seems like a reasonable policy to me. -Gtrmp 03:19, September 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Good idea. I'll see what I can do. Thanks! --Ian talk 03:25, September 26, 2011 (UTC)
I enjoy your edits very much!
Ian,
I'm -Saga- from the white-wolf forums. I've seen that there's a lot of work to be done in this wiki and my field is mainly canon history and genealogy about Vampire. I can help you a lot by correcting wrong information and creating entries of all of Vampire's Cainites and their histories. Hope to be of help here.
