From the White Wolf Wiki, the most complete White Wolf reference
Hi Ian. Please check the terms of use again since I think there has been a misunderstanding. All content on every Wikicity needs to be available under the GFDL, not a CC licence. Please fix the pages which claim the wiki is under a CC license and delete any edits where users have not agreed to release their text under the GFDL. If there are any problems with this, please let me know. Thanks. Angela (talk) 22:02, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. Memory Alpha is an exception to our normal copyright policies since it isn't officially a Wikicity; it's a separate project which is hosted by the same company. Angela (talk) 01:22, 23 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mage: Ascension page...
The reason I've been having trouble is because I've noticed an odd similarity between the following pages; http://whitewolf.wikicities.com/wiki/Mage:_The_Ascension and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mage:_The_Ascension
If the information was already on one, I shouldn't be repetitive and put it on the other, should I?
I noticed the link problem right after I posted it and fixed it. I confused wiki for my livejournal. I'm more fluent in editing that. =p (PS: Yaknow, I basically made that whole page myself, btw... Figured I could still add/remove links to my work) Oh well, guess life doesn't work that way. I submit it to the wiki gods. do what you will! -Steve
I am having the same trouble, also between WTF and WTA. I like the way you fixed the auspices, I am fixing the others the same way, might take less time if you help, haha.
[edit] Glossaries
What is the difference between Vampire: The Masquerade glossary and Category: Vampire: The Masquerade, etc?
- Glossary is for terminology. Vampire is a catchall for all Vampire articles. If, fr'ex, you've got an article on Mithras, he'd go under Vampire, under Character, and under Vampire character. Not glossary. This way people can find all vampire articles, or just the terminology, or all the terminology. The three main sections are glossary, character, and geography. If people want to discuss whether or not we need others, I'm happy to entertain them on Paw Prints. IanWatson 21:13, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Is this the best way to ask you a question regarding formatting? My question on Paw Prints never got answered, so I'm not sure how often that's looked at, and it seems better than putting it in the Discussions. Thanks. Moogle001 21:00, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I glossed over your Paw Prints article 'cause you didn't sign your named to it. I've gone and answered it. IanWatson 21:13, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Werewolf (oWOD)
Ok so why do we need to have articles pointing to this non-existent article when we already have Werewolf: The Apocalypse which works just as well? Whispering 04:33, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Responded on your talk page. --Ian
[edit] Vandalism
No problem. Please report if you get hit with any other similar mass attacks! (That guy's a returning spammer, or rather tries to be, but his script barfs on quotation marks and just ends up half-blanking instead. I wish he'd fix it, because then the spam blacklist would stop him...) BTW, I like the color scheme on this wiki. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 17:54, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome mat
Heh been picking up my welcome mat eh? Whispering 18:07, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah. Works nicely. (: --Ian 20:10, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Er...?
User:Dune Genesis is back. And making wide changes without rhyme or reason again any ideas? Whispering 22:53, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Babel box...
Hi Ian, thought you might like to know that the babelbox template seems to have gone a bit berko. (That's an Australian slang term for whack, or something.) I thought about removing it, but then again it may just be a problem in Firefox 1.5, so I figured you'd probably just like to know about it... -- Guybrush 01:37, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- Nah it looks wakcy in IE as well. Whispering 02:01, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- MediaWiki was upgraded recently, and the Babelbox didn't work 100% to begin with. Changed to the old-fashioned style. --Ian 02:32, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] World of Darkness Wiki
Hey I haven't seen you over at the WoD Wiki for awhile are you still editing over there? Whispering 04:19, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've been adding most of the Promethean content here and there simultaneously. I've been sorta busy lately, so I haven't done much more than that on either Wiki. --Ian 13:34, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Big trouble
Hopefully you or one of the other moderators will be online soon; we have widespread vandalism, and I can't do much about it. We need to block Jewbo Wales/Jewboy Fails/Jimbo Walæs and whatever IP he rode in on, ASAP. (I'll add all the usernames I find here; not much point in starting the reversion until he's blocked.) -- Guybrush 11:01, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
ARRRRRR. I just got the page ported to me last night. and yeah, I'm sorta guarded about stuff like that still. ^_^
[edit] Welcome
Thanks for the welcome message. The thing 16:55, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Didn't notice the spelling was wrong for the title for Time of Judgment. Thanks for fixing it. --Shaoken 02:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- No prob. That's what I'm here for. --Ian 15:16, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Recent deletion
Hi Ian. I couldn't help but notice in the deltion log that you deleted "IanWatson has no penis" with the slightly worrying comment "content was: '#REDIRECT Penis' (and the only contributor was 'Guybrush')". Hopefully it's obvious I didn't create that page; do I need to change my password? -- Guybrush 23:15, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- No, I know you didn't create it. Honestly, I'm not sure who did - if it was done under your username or if someone else did it (likely an unregistered user), but the Wiki software decided it was you for the purposes of the Deletion Log. Whatever it was, it was an old entry, going back at least several months. I came across it while wandering the list of articles.
- You can certainly change your password if you want, but since nothing major has happened in the last few months you're probably fine. --Ian 00:41, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I can't find it in my contribution history going back to June, so I guess it wasn't someone logged in as me and I can rest easy. Thanks for the reassurance. -- Guybrush 00:54, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] King of Covers
Ian, I just wanted to thank you for all the marvelous work you've been doing with adding and organizing the book covers for what others and I have put up so far. I know it's been a terrific help to me. BebopKate 03:00, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
- Not a problem; that's what I'm here for. (: I've got the covers for pretty much every single WW product kicking around on my hard drive. Unfortunately, most of them are only 150px wide, but they certainly help with visually identifying the books, and people can always upload higher-res versions later.
- Conversely, I want to thank you for all the books you've been putting up lately! It's really helping fill out the library portion of the site. The books are what all our information comes from, so those are some of the most important articles we have. Kudos! --Ian talk 03:29, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wolf-Spoor?
Hey what happened to wolf-spoor? It's not coming up when I clicked the link. Whispering 23:13, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's been down for about a month now. Database got corrupted at some point, so when the host moved to a different provider, he couldn't get my site going again.
- I don't mind much, really. With WW's site setup, WolfSpoor has been progressively less and less relevant. With their old site, when WS was down for 10 minutes there'd immediately be a thread demanding to know what happened to it. Now, you're the first person who has said anything.
- I've got something else I want to do with it, but it requires a new site design, and for some cards to be in place behind the scenes. That could take some time. --Ian talk 23:45, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Not really related to wolf-spoor but I was thinking of making a nav template for the DtF Apocalyptic Forms as there is quite a few of them. Think that would be ok? Whispering 18:28, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have no problem with it. Maybe you want to ask the rest of the community. --Ian talk 18:29, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] House Tharsis revertion
Good morning, Ian. Why do you revert my addition of background information on name of House Tharsis? Grijalva 14:54, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- The reason for the reversion (full changes here) was primarily because of the change from traditional typewritten quotation marks ("") to "curly" quotation marks (“”). This change was unnecessary and could impact how the page shows up in response to various search terms.
- I have no issue with the background information you provided regarding the name. Feel free to add it back in, although preferably with a link or reference to the Clavicles of Solomon. --Ian talk 01:10, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your other wiki
Ian. The other white wolf wiki you administer, the official one, is being overrun by spam Recent Changes ! Check out the recent changes! Any ideas?
I see when I submit changes here, the wiki presents me with a captcha... perhaps setting that up there would be a good idea? -76.100.29.172 20:32, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Talk to Conrad. I have no way of altering the current setup of the Wiki at all. All I've been able to do is try to enforce some rules. It's not my Wiki, they just gave me authority to try to make the place run smoothly. --Ian talk 22:08, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the welcome ;)
Hi Ian,
thank you for the warm welcome! I think I'll be dropping in here from time to time. I've also decided to establish a Polish language version of this wiki, so expect to see a lot of interwiki links in RC soon. ;)
Best regards,
TOR
