It's sort of a complicated reverse-chronology. What the most recent books say, including what they say about history, is the "most canon" answer (except where it's obviously a case of rewriting history, such as some of the retconning the GttTech does about the Renaissance). But the previous stuff is still canon.

Where it's not contradicted, cover it. Where it is contradicted, cover them as "uncertain historical accounts" or something. Do your best to make it all flow together as best as you can. IanWatson 23:08, 18 Sep 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Possibly offtopic: Axis powers

I don't want to make a fuss in an otherwise interesting wiki, but the Axis powers in WWII didn't seek a "socialist" society; in fact, they opposed it. This is probably in the source material, so I won't argue with it, but don't be confused because of the name of the Nazi party :) Also, the Japanese and Italians were certainly NOT socialistic even in name :)
