The term szlachta is a Polish word meaning noble (or gentry according to Clanbook: Tzimisce), as szlachta are considered superior to other ghouls. They are created from either human or animals, and flesh- or bonecrafted in order to increase their combat prowess. This makes them stronger but also hideously deformed (as are many Tzimisce ghouls).
Sometimes, szlachta have their sensory organs enhanced so they can serve as scouts. This frequently results in the szlachta going insane or being permanently crippled.
In 1141 A.D., the Tzimisce Ahzra took control of the Bonn Silver Mines east of Prague, with her army of szlachta. Szlachta made nightly raids into Prague, killing and mutilating the townsfolk, until a Crusader named Christof Romuald ventured into the mine and slew Ahzra.
- Szlachta are the first type of enemy faced by protagonist Christof Romuald in the game Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption. All models used in the game resemble short, hairless, deformed creatures with a long neck and needle-like teeth. A differently-shaped model (with a long snout and a blade in place of its right arm) is called a 'war ghoul', but is distinct from the much larger vozhd - the war ghoul is probably a szlachta also. In this game, szlachta have the Disciplines of Potence and Blood Healing.
