Propinquus, plural Propinqui, was a name used to refer to certain Kindred in ancient Rome. The name was reserved for those Kindred who were sired from the native Roman stock. Though vampires existed in other civilizations in antiquity, these lesser foreign vampires weren't considered Kindred by Roman vampires. If a Roman citizen was Embraced by one of these foreign vampires, the resulting childe was not considered one of the Propinqui.

Background Information[]

  • "Propinquo" means "near" or "similar," so it was likely intended as the Latin equivalent of the modern term "Kindred."
