Obtenebration is the unique Discipline of the Khaibit bloodline of Kindred. It was developed by the line in the nights when it fulfilled its almost forgotten role as warriors against a greater darkness, and gives them power over darkness itself, controlling shadows and eradicating light.
Powers[]
- Night Sight - the vampire is able to see in total darkness.
- Shadow Play - reshapes existing shadows, changing their shape, darkness and even causing them to move independently of the objects casting them.
- Shroud of Night - creates an area of darkness, swallowing and suppressing light, except sunlight.
- Perambulam in Tenebris - the Khaibit may instantaneously travel between two shadows, stepping into one and out of another.
- Shadow Form - the Khaibit transforms into living two-dimensional shadow, existing in a form not unlike Twilight.
Update[]
In Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition, Obtenebration is a set of linked Devotions. They are similar to the previous version of Obtenebration, but place more emphasis on fighting ephemeral beings and the Strix. These Devotions include:
- Udjat - The ability to see in darkness and spy on ephemeral beings. All Khaibit gain this gift on induction into the bloodline.
- Tyet (Vigor 2) - The vampire can bleed shadow and cover an area with darkness.
- Pseshkf (Vigor 2) - The vampire can shape shadows and coat her weapons with them, allowing her to attack beings hidden in Twilight.
- Ba (Obfuscate 2) - The Khaibit allows herself to be absorbed into shadows and gains immunity to physical damage.
- Iteru (Celerity 2) - The vampire can step into one shadow and out anywhere it touches
