A nenitu is a form of Lifeless created by the Arisen from an inanimate corpse through an Utterance, an ancient and powerful form of magic utilizing Sekhem.

Overview[]

Nenitu are shambling simulacra of life rather than real people; created by their Arisen master purely for combat, the nenitu lack the psychological complexities of humans and can only conceive the notions of aimlessly wandering in search of, advancing towards, and attacking any and all available prey until they are dead. They cannot be reasoned with, although they possess limited problem-solving capability restricted to the basics of self-preservation and ascending and descending stairs and ladders. The nenitu are sustained via the magic that animates them rather than any sole pack member, with the most injured and degraded being the first to return to death as the power of the Utterance wears off.

These Lifeless are not inherently potent creatures but are capable of serving as a significant threat if allowed to gather and wander in packs, alongside possessing a highly-infectious bite capable of transforming those who die to them into more nenitu under their Arisen master's control. The nenitu act indiscriminately towards their prey excluding the Arisen who unleashed them and any individuals their master can perceive and deems as "invisible". Victims of this bite die slowly and painfully, vomiting blood and gouging at their flesh as the infection gradually ravages their internal organs, unless the wound has been quickly cauterized or the infected limb amputated.
