Magnus of Byzantium
Magnus was a Lasombra elder active in Constantinople who gathered influence over the ecclesiastic branch of the Orthodox Church. He betrayed his sire and sided with the Triumvirate that came to rule the city. Many years later Magnus was himself betrayed by his childer, and finally perished at the hands of the followers of Narses.
Magnus has been a constant in the city for over 1000 years, long before the advent of the Trinity system, he aided his sire Ectoris in controlling the city through the cults of Aphrodite. When Michael, the Dracon and Antonius arrived in the entourage of Emperor Constantine the Great, Ectoris engaged in an ill-advised attempt to hold Byzantium against them. He mobilised his pawns and even made threats against the person of the emperor himself.
Magnus saw the writing on the wall and betrayed Ectoris and the rest of his consanguineous siblings in 337. He staked them all before they rose for the evening and destroyed all save Ectoris, whom he presented to the Triumvirate along with his his professions of loyalty and his promise that he would help to evangelise the city. He was elevated to a Scion family under the purview of Michaels Toreador in 475.
Eventually the Triumvirs gave him leave to take progeny of his own to aid in this important task, and Magnus Embraced Sarah the Chaste in AD 402 and Peter the Humble in AD 407. In the times of Michael's madness, Magnus became an important pillar for the stability of the Dream and amassed more and more power, as the Toreador under Petronius began heavily to rely upon him.
Magnus meets an ironic fate, however. On the eve of the Fourth Crusade he is staked by Sarah the Chaste as he strolls through the Acropolis, and delivers him to the Narsene Lasombra. His Final Death is prolonged over the eight days that it takes the city to burn.
