Luckee Star Motel

The Luckee Star Motel is a motel located in Hollywood which features prominently in VTM: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines . Like most motels, the structure remains low to the ground with only two floors, and all rooms are accessible from the outside. However, despite being a motel, it doesn't seem to have any room for parking.

Overview[]

The building is U-shaped, with the entrance at the base of the U. The lobby has a reception desk for check-in, staffed at night by David Hatter, and a small seating area next to a fireplace. Once through the lobby, the arms of the U contain the building's rooms. In between the two arms is a pool area.

Guests in October 2004[]

The following guest rooms were being used in 2004:

  1. Nines and the Anarchs (Anarch ending)
  2. The mysterious voice on the phone from Death Mask Productions (Snuff Is Enough)
  3. Jim Aristade of Black Rose Distribution, a fan of Easter eggs (see below)
  4. A forgetful guest (see below)
  5. Unknown
  6. "Muddy" Mike Durbin

Background Information[]

  • All rooms are electronically locked, except Room 3 and 4, which can be picked.
  • Room 1 can only be accessed during the Anarch ending, during which it is automatically unlocked. In the Plus version of the Unofficial Patch, this ending has been moved to the Chateau Marmont Hotel.
  • Room 2 is likewise automatically unlocked during the course of the Snuff Is Enough quest. There's a Gold Ring under the mattress.
  • Room 3's lock can be picked, and is part of an Easter egg:
    1. The filing cabinet behind David Hatter has a note from a day staffer, Christoph, indicating that a guest left a laptop in Room 3 with the password "lycans." This step isn't necessary, but points you in the right direction.
    2. Pick the lock on room 3.
    3. The laptop screensaver bears the name "Jim Aristade" and the header indicates "Black Rose Distribution." An "easter egg" option (password: "lycans") gives the poem: Open doors here often, to the werewolf in the sky. In the end the ending, you'll manage to pass by.
    4. Doing what the first line of the poem requests, and opening the door to this room (or any motel room) a total of 18 or more times will put a dancing werewolf in the skybox, making it appear hundreds of feet tall. It will appear in the sky to the northwest of the "U" shape. (The required number of times is probably 20, but opening the double doors to the rear of the motel plus opening the door to room 3 count for two of the total.)
    5. As hinted in the second part of the poem, if you activate this Easter egg, it will allow you to select the hidden dancing werewolf ending at the end of the game when confronting Prince Sebastian LaCroix.
  • Room 4's lock can be picked. It contains a wallet with $200, and two Prescription Bottles under the sink.
  • Room 5 has a rendered interior, but is not used in any quest, and is inaccessible during normal gameplay. There are no items or special features inside.
  • Room 6 is the only one of the six rooms which is unlocked by the player with a keycard, which is found during the Mudd Hunt quest.
  • A duplicate of the Luckee Star neon sign can be found in the Nosferatu Warrens.
  • A creepy ambient theme with a ringing clocktower bell, "mid_short cutscene stem10", plays in the Luckee Star. It's not currently on any album.
