Liber Defuctorum was the name of a Cainite ledger created by the Sabbat to record the names of those among their ranks who had died valiantly during the conflicts between colonists and the Iroquois natives in the decades that preceded 1660, around the territories of modern-day Montreal. When the Liber Defuctorum was produced, nearly 20 vampires had been destroyed, yet there was no sign of peace. The Liber was inspired by similar mortal accounts of those who died creating and defending the colony of Ville-Marie, and it set the precedent for the confection of the Litany of Blood that followed.

"Liber Defunctorum" is a latin expression that roughly means "Death Registry". The version presented in the Montreal by Night is most likely a misspelling of that original expression.
