The Land of Nod was a mythical place east of Eden where Caine was exiled by God after the murder of his brother Abel.
Overview
According to the Book of Nod, the Land of Nod was a place of utter darknes, with no source of light, where Caine was afraid and alone. Nod in this case, meaning, the 'Unknown Lands' - supposedly the lands outside ("east") of Eden, which were not named at that time.
It was there he met Lilith who called him "Caine of Nod" and took him into her garden. In those gardens Caine was fed, clothed and anointed with Lilith's blood. She even shared her magical knowledge with the murderous son of Adam.
But soon Caine abandoned her, leaving the garden of Lilith upon being visited by the archangels Michael, Raphael, Uriel and Gabriel, becoming the first vampire thereafter. Caine wandered in darkness until he passed on his curse, embracing those who would become known as the Second Generation.

- Noddism derives its name to the Land of Nod.
- The term became widely known by the vampiric society after the publication of the Book of Nod, by one of the Jocastatians.
- The Land of Nod is a place mentioned in the book of Genesis of the Hebrew Bible.
- "Nod" (נוד) is the Hebrew root of the verb "to wander" (לנדוד). Therefore to dwell in the land of Nod is usually taken to mean that one takes up a wandering life.
