In 1851, the Artificers, and the larger Order of Reason, underwent reorganization and emerged as the Technocratic Union. The Artficers were re-christened as the International Brotherhood of Mechanicians.
This will last until the closing years of the 19th century, when the Technoracy will reorganize itself yet again. In the process, the Mechanicians will become Iteration X, named after the self-aware Computer they created, which acheived sentience at an unspecified iteration (hence "X") of its self-improvement program.
