The Hammersmith Incident is the name given to an event that happened on July 21, 1922. Dr. Sir Calvin Hammersmith was demonstrating his Telluric Engine to several esteemed guests, when something went wrong. The device exploded.
The eruption zero-point energy from the device served to Inspire people all over the world, leading to the Inspiration Age (and the Adventure! game line, and the Trinity Universe in general).
