Gilgamesh was a Gangrel methuselah, a ruler in the ancient civilization of Sumer.
Biography
In his lifetime, during the 4th millennium BCE, Gilgamesh was a king of Sumer. According to Toreador scholars, there was a feud between the Toreador Antediluvian and the Gangrel Antediluvian over the ownership of the Tablet of Destiny.
After some heated battles Gilgamesh was sought by Ishtar, who proposed to embrace the mortal if he would aid her in the struggle against Enkidu. At that time, however, Gilgamesh had already been tempted by Ennoia and chose to side with the Gangrel instead.
It is said that the Toreador Antediluvian had to flee the pair, but not before unleashing upon them a great monster known as the Bull of Heaven.
Trivia
- The Toreador account about the vampiric existence of Gilgamesh is pretty much eccentric to say the least. Instead of being a direct childe of the Gangrel Antediluvian, it is possible that Gilgamesh was actually a 5th generation Cainite, childe of Enkidu.
- According to Children of Gaia lore, Gilgamesh not only refused the vampiric embrace, but had been one of the first humans to fight against vampires. For more information on this and other versions of Gilgamesh in the World of Darkness, see Gilgamesh (disambiguation).
