Randel Portman was the first nova known by the public to have erupted following the explosion of the Galatea. He erupted while working for the NYFD, attempting to put out a school bus which had caught fire.
He absorbed all the fire within himself, earning him the nickname "The Fireman."
In late 2008 he ran for, and won, the Presidency of the United States of America, making him the first nova President.
