Khalil Ravana is the signature character and one of the few survivors of the Ravnos clan in Vampire: The Masquerade. He is noted for his dangerous addiction to diablerie, which he has used to bring himself down to the ninth generation.

Biography[]

Born in India, Khalil Ravana was embraced from the ranks of the dalit and as such did not lead a privileged unlife among his Clan. When the Week of Nightmares began, he had the luck to meet the Setite, Hesha Ruhadze. In exchange for information about the Eye of Hazimel, the Setite would smuggle the Ravnos into the United States.

From there, Khalil wandered into New York, plagued by strange telepathic compulsions from an unknown elder. When he arrived in New York, he abducted a former ghoul of Ruhadze in order to bait him. During this time, he met the Gangrel neonate Ramona, who had experiences with the Eye and was familiar with the curse the artifact carried. Khalil learned from her how to heal the stigmata caused by the eye.

"Enjoy the nights of your youth, Khalil. Let yourself believe that you could break my hold so easily — for that is what you want to believe. Hoard the treasures of the flesh, if that is what makes you feel safe." — Then Hazimel did, at last, smile. And he laughed — but he remembered little of laughter. The sound that emanated from perhaps the eldest surviving Ravnos, to mortal ears, would have resembled more closely the fruits of torture than mirth. But to him, the sound was sweet.

In the aftermath, he survived within the city by selling his talents to both the Camarilla and the Sabbat, who both had suffered under the powers of the Eye. He asked for victims to diablerize and for the location of Ruhadze's haven in exchange. When an ambitious Ventrue antitribu, Jean-Paul, leading a Sabbat pack tried to diablerize him, Khalil instead turned on him. He barely escaped a trap of Ruhadze and Ramona, who had betrayed him in order to free his hostage. On the run, Khalil moved to Chicago, hiding from his pursuers and still plagued by strange compulsions from an unknown elder.
