Engel is a game produced by German company Feder & Schwert, and translated into English by White Wolf.
Concept[]
The game is set in a pseudo-medieval future Europe. The Engel, which resemble Christian angels, patrol the skies from their floating fortresses and do battle with the terrible Dreamseed. The immortal Pontifex Maximus rules the Church, which has fused secular and spiritual authority, but increasing numbers of people reject his leadership in favor the Junklords who maintain ancient technology.
Mechanics[]
The original German version of the game used "the Arcana system," in which players drew tarot-like cards to resolve actions instead of rolling dice. When White Wolf released the game in English under its Sword & Sorcery imprint, it also converted it to d20 rules using the very new Open Gaming License. The game sold poorly and was dropped after just a few supplements.
