Bertram Tung is a particularly grotesque-looking Nosferatu elder living in an abandoned oil tank at the SunCo Gasoline facility, in Santa Monica. Tung is one of the most influential vampires in Santa Monica and a fierce rival of Santa Monica's Baron, Therese Voerman, whom he fears.
Abilities[]
He is a specialist in infiltration, being able to help the fledgling enter a Sabbat warehouse unseen. Bertram is also intimately knowledgeable in the Kindred sects and clans.
Overview[]
Bertram is only mentioned in conversation in the beginning of the game. Bertram Tung is the master of the overzealous "golden ghoul", Knox Harrington, who refers to him only as "Nasty dude"; Therese Voerman reveals Tung's real name along with her terms in calling off the feud between them.
As one would expect from a Nosferatu, Bertram is intimately knowledgeable in the Kindred sects and clans, additionally giving his own opinions of each. As he is loyal to his clan and primogen, Bertram is, therefore, loyal to the Camarilla, despite a slight reluctance.
As far as is known Bertram is a skillful computer geek and also very good at Potence discipline.
Quests[]
- Explosive Beginning: Bertram serves as a discrete entry to the warehouse at the Santa Monica trainyard. From there you must creep through the high alert thugs and plant the Astrolite. Once the Astrolite is set to explode, your objective is to distance yourself as far from the detonation site as possible.
- Missing Data: Bertram is missing a data CD which he left in the Nosferatu warrens.
Background Information[]
- The Malkavian player refers to Bertram as "the Worm" or as "nasty dude". It will result in Bertram being offended the first time but after he realizes the player is a Malkavian he stops paying attention to it.
- Bertram lives within the SunCo Gasoline facility.
- Bertram's email address is listed variously as btung@schreknet.vtm and bertram@schrecknet.vtm (standardized to bertram@schrecknet.vtm in the Unofficial Patch). More recent material has retconned the Schrecknet TLD as ".nod".
- "Bertram" is also the name of a pirate in Troika's previous game, 2003's The Temple of Elemental Evil. He caught some notoriety in media for being a gay character that PCs could romance.
