Alexis Sorokin, also known as Danya, is a member of the Ravnos clan and famous art thief, who is proficient at a multitude of Disciplines. She occupies a place on the Red List.
Biography[]
Alexis was born in the 18th century into Russian nobility. She supported the reforms of Peter the Great and studied in Vienna, where she became fascinated with art. She became also enraptured with the experience of stealing. She became so good at thievery that even the Kindred were amazed by her skill, especially the Toreador.
Before the night when Alexis would have returned to Moscow, she met a Ravnos vampire who became immediately intrigued with her, and she with him. Alexis seduced and intoxicated him and in a fit of passion, she told him of her attachment to crime. The Ravnos left her, committed to observe how strong her compulsion truly was – but after seeing her collection he immediately gave her the Embrace.
She left for Paris with her sire when Vienna was too hot for a pair of Kindred who were in to stealing. In the City of Lights she could envision her desires completely, but by mixing with the Toreador society Alexis began to envy them. Their influence rapidly sowed dissent between Alexis and her sire (who resorted to the Blood Bond to ensure obedience from his childe). The crimes of the two soon attracted attention of other Clans, but ultimately they were too concerned with their own affairs to care of the Ravnos. The Toreador proved themselves to be the most vindictive, using a bait in the form of an original Mozart manuscript to lure Alexis back to Paris.
During a ball in which the Toreador hoped to catch the thief, her sire was finally captured and staked, which actually suited her own plans. She avenged him, however, by setting fire to the ballroom and destroying countless pieces of art. For her record, she earned the eternal enmity of the Toreador clan and her place on the Red List. She continues her burglaries to this day, acting very cautiously through the use of the alias "Danya".
