Aethelwulf was the warlord of Mithras and the Baronies of Avalon in the Dark Ages.

Biography[]

Originally a saxon thane, Aethelwulf met his end on the battlefield against the native britains. He was embraced because of his courage and maintained some of it in his first years, where he lived more like a Beast. His sire, however, was an ardent follower of the Road of Kings and the Cult of Mithras and introduced Aethelwulf into both, when he managed to keep up with him.

Aethelwulf became a missionary, traveling across Europe and attempting to spread the faith of his god. He had few successes and when he returned to Britain, he found the local Cult almost gone. His refusal to accept christianity brought him to conflict with the local authorities, both kindred and kine, and he was forced to go to Chester, whose prince, Marcus Verus, shared his faith. When Aethelwulf met the Ventrue overlord who shared the name of his god, he submissioned to him immediately, believing in the inherent divinity of him.

Aethelwulf served Mithras a very long time as an enforcer and warlord in the following War of Princes and beyond. He fell during an uprising against Mithras' rule during the War of the Roses, causing Mithras himself to enter the fray and staking the murderer of his agent to let him burn in the sun.
