Ezra was sent to Oslo by her sire to assist a recently awakened Tzimisce methuselah from a 700-years old torpor. The methuselah was her great-grandsire, and she was tasked to help him catch up with the modern nights, as well as to teach him the idioms of english and spanish.
The methuselah held the younger generations in no contempt and was even impressed by the crafting skills of Ezra. However, due to the fact that her sire, Troilus, spoke to him in a condescending and familiar tone through the correspondence they've established, he decided to keep Ezra for himself and warned Troilus that he would feed her to him, piece by piece, if such disrespectful behavior were to be used again.
