The Eye of Hazimel is a powerful supernatural item, and the major plot device of the Clan Novel Saga.
Overview
This item is a living eye belonging to the Ravnos methuselah Hazimel (or, according to some, to Zapathasura himself). The Eye holds great powers of mutation and destruction, but in order to use it, its wielder has to replace one of their own eyes with it.
Over the course of the Clan Novel Saga, the Eye was hidden by a Nosferatu agent within one of the statues that Victoria Ash had acquired and which would be on display. As part of a deal between Nosferatu and the Followers of Set, the item was achieved by a Setite named Vegel. However, the siege of Atlanta and the terrible battles that ensued made it possible that the Eye came into possession of the sculptor Leopold (a Tremere antitribu who believed himself to be a Toreador).
The Eye gradually altered his body and mind in pursuit of its master's agenda, and induced Leopold to use its powers to slaughter many Kindred – and nearly kill the very Justicar of the Gangrel clan. Witnessing Leopold's capabilities, Justicar Xaviar was convinced that only an Antediluvian could wield such a tremendous power, and when the Camarilla refused to back him in his revenge against that being, he withdrew his entire clan from the sect.
Leopold was eventually destroyed by a joint effort of Brujah archon Theo Bell, a Gangrel survivor called Ramona, a Setite scholar named Hesha Ruhadze, and Leopold's muse, Victoria Ash of the Toreador clan. The eye was given to Hesha as part of a deal between him and Lucinde, the Ventrue Justicar.
