Emeritus is a term used by the Assamite scholars. It is an appendage added to another of the scholars' titles.
Overview[]
Appended to any title of master or greater (“Distinguished Master Emeritus”), this title denotes a Master who has withdrawn from active participation in clan affairs, but whose expertise is still acknowledged and respected. Most often in the Modern Nights, this is used to mark an elder who has entered torpor. More colloquially, it can also refer to a sorcerer or vizier who has declared dispossessed status by actively refusing to choose a side in the Assamite Schism.
