In 1851, the Voltarian Order, and the larger Order of Reason, underwent reorganization and emerged as the Technocratic Union. The Voltaic Order was re-christened as the Electrodyne Engineers.

When ether is eliminated from the Consensus around 1904, the Engineers will defect from the Technocracy and join the Council of Nine Mystic Traditions, renaming themselves the Sons of Ether.
