Deviant was the magnum opus of Trevor Chase, and contained a compelling backstory and a critical look at cultural mores, designed to look into what people would do if they possessed god-like powers.

When the book hit stores, it became painfully obvious that people would just put on capes and slug the superpowerd shit out of each other. Why bother thinking about it — that's hard! Let's fight!
