Demesne, referring to the part of an estate set aside to provide for the one who rules over it, is a term used in the Dark Ages line to describe the physical area ruled over by a group of supernatural creatures. It can also apply to certain Backgrounds that are pooled among players to provide a covering effect over an area, most notably Domain, Chantry, Chapter-House, and Hunting Grounds.
