César Holfield is a 15th generation Caitiff, nicknamed the Child of the Final Nights. He was converted almost by accident. However, the Tremere are confident that his existence is a clear omen of Gehenna because of his strange birthmark.

Background[]

He was the second son of three brothers and like most middle children he had a hard time maintaining the attention of his parents.  His older brother broke all the rules and received all the ire while his younger brother got the good grades and received all the praise.  César had neither to offer his family.  He had no criminal record and average grades, and he was invisible.

He did seek companionship but whomever he had around bored him.  He just never seemed to hold much interest in sports, academics, video games, even girls like his schoolmates.  Everyone just considered him ‘odd’ when they considered him at all.  Again, César found himself invisible.

Little changed for César in college.  He studied and got bored.  He slept late, missed classes, failed tests, and none of it really mattered to him. Ho one really seemed to notice at home. It was six months before his parents discovered he had dropped out.

On the street seemed to hold more appeal for César then anywhere else.  The act of surviving kept him busy.  He abandoned his comfortable life and the only thing he left his parents was a message on their answering machine saying he would be “out for a little while.”

One day while deep in thought about nothing and looking for someone to commiserate with, César stuck up a conversation with a woman named Jocelyn.  Soon the conversation after a drink let to them in her apartment.  She revealed what her true intentions were and while kissing his neck she commented on a small birthmark in the shape of a crescent moon.  She wanted more cash and when he had no more, she kicked him to the curb.

Returning to the park, penniless and miserable, César watched the leaves scatter along the sidewalk and tried to stay warm in the place he considered home.  When a shadow passed over him, he thought the end had finally come in the form of a mugger or psycho.  He felt a fierce pain in his neck, and then he felt his life drain away only to be replaced by new life.  The attack was over as suddenly as it began, and Cesar once again simply shivered in the dark and watched the leaves scattered on the wind.

César sought shelter the next morning when he could no longer stand the rays of the sun.  He found his appetite for food was replaced for that of blood.  He knew the attack had changed him into a vampire, but immortality held as little appeal to César as mortality once had.

He found others of his kind, including Jocelyn, but remains oblivious of the stir he has caused all because of his birthmark.  He finds most “Kindred” to anything but.  César simply continues to wander from city to city, in search of a bit of conversation here and vitae there.

Appearance[]

César stands with his shoulders despondently slumped.  His tattered brown trench coat hangs limply over his skinny frame.  Unshaven and unkempt, he exists on the streets, his natural good looks and boyish smile obscured.  In his rare social moments, César is always distant and often makes obscure references.
