Born as the son of a spice merchant near the Red Sea, Abdalkutba proved to be too great a dreamer to be a good merchant. He loved the traveling, but when he renounced his arranged marriage he was disowned from his family. He apprenticed himself to an astrologer, whom he surpassed after a few decades.
An elderly Assamite Vizier approached him, telling him of Golconda and Embraced him to continue this noble quest. Traveling through the Islamic world in search of Golconda lore under a variety of disguises, he was outraged when he learned of the Blood Curse cast by the Tremere after the Convention of Thorns.
Renouncing his ties with Alamut, he eventually joined the Twelve at Huneadora. After consulting the stars, he agreed to join in the Pact, as he had learned that the demon who Cretheus planned to summon was one of the beings that first brought light into the cosmos and had seen God in person. He longs for the wide world outside the castle, but is bound there together with the rest of his companions, halfheartedly searching for Golconda, although he would prefer to roam the world.
