- First Rite of the Lancea et Sanctum.[1] The Monachus and his followers celebrate Mass in a cave outside Jerusalem. Outside a number of vampires await them to kill them, but Vahishtael whispers word to the Monachus. He keeps his followers in the cave praying until dawn, which apparently catches the assassins unawares and destroys them. The rejoicing followers declare the cave the Sanctuary of the Lance.[2]
