• Pope Gregory IX establishes a permanent tribunal of ecclesiastical judges - the Inquisition, and the Society of Leopold along with it. While its members employ no new methods, their rapid recruitment, extensive travel and autonomy - they answered only to the Pope - made them much more effective.^[1] With help from Gabrielites and Messianic Voices, witch-hunts flourish.^[2][3][4]
